A community icon celebrates
Sunday, April 14th, marked a significant milestone for Terrigal and its residents as they celebrated the third anniversary of the beloved Terrigal Boardwalk. Since its grand opening in 2021 by then Premier Gladys Berejiklian, this iconic stretch has become an integral part of the community, witnessing tens of thousands of visitors strolling along its 277-meter length.
Adam Crouch, Member for Terrigal, expressed his delight at the enduring popularity of the boardwalk, emphasizing its status as a cherished community icon. He credited its realization to the collaborative efforts of the local community, substantial investment from the former Berejiklian Liberal-National Government, and the support of the Central Coast Council.
“What was once merely talk twenty years ago has now become a reality,” remarked Crouch, highlighting the transformational journey from conception to fruition. Despite facing opposition, including from some Labor councillors, the project persevered, demonstrating the resilience and determination of the community to enhance its infrastructure and amenities.
The Terrigal Boardwalk stands as a testament to effective collaboration between government bodies and local stakeholders. Jointly funded by the Berejiklian Liberal National Government and Central Coast Council, it received financial support totaling $5.88 million under the NSW Regional Growth Environment and Tourism Fund. This investment has not only beautified the coastline but has also facilitated greater accessibility and enjoyment for residents and visitors alike.
Reflecting on the significance of this milestone, Mr. Crouch expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to the boardwalk’s success. He underscored its inclusive nature, welcoming individuals of all ages and abilities to experience the natural beauty of Terrigal’s shoreline in a safe and accessible manner.
