Adam Crouch: New Uni Campus Powering Ahead
The University of Newcastle’s Gosford Campus is taking shape, promising a sustainable and innovative learning environment for the Central Coast. Construction is progressing rapidly, with the ground floor slabs recently completed and preparations underway for the first floor.
This new campus is a testament to sustainable development. It employs a unique concrete mix that uses 80% recycled water and contains 60% less cement than traditional concrete, significantly reducing its carbon footprint. Additionally, the interior frame will be constructed using mass timber, further contributing to environmental sustainability.
The campus’s distinctive glass façade, featuring curved elements, a frit pattern, and double glazing, not only enhances its aesthetic appeal but also meets the highest standards of design and energy efficiency.
Shadow Minister for the Central Coast, Adam Crouch, recently visited the campus site and expressed his enthusiasm for the project. He praised the former Liberal-National Government’s vision in developing Gosford into an education and innovation hub, and highlighted their $18 million commitment to making this campus a reality.
However, Mr. Crouch also criticised the current government’s lack of progress on the proposed new TAFE in Gosford. He emphasised the importance of this project for the region’s future and urged the government to prioritise its development.
As the Gosford Campus continues to take shape, it represents a significant step forward for the Central Coast’s educational landscape. Its commitment to sustainability and innovation sets a new standard for higher education facilities.
