There’s no arguing that for many of us, we’re missing events and going out to a gig and now there’s an opportunity to shout “Events are back on the Coast!”
Central Coast music venues are encouraged to host a COVID-safe gig as part of a new State-wide music event called Great Southern Nights.
Here’s a video that explains it all!
Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast and Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch said the NSW Government will attract a total of 1,000 gigs to NSW throughout the month of November.
“Half of the 1,000 gigs will be held in regional NSW, and as a region situated close to Sydney, the Central Coast community is perfectly placed to benefit,” Mr Crouch said.
“A number of artists have already been secured by the NSW Government for Great Southern Nights, including Jimmy Barnes, Birds of Tokyo, Missy Higgins, The Jungle Giants, Paul Kelly, Thelma Plum, The Presets, Amy Shark, Tash Sultana, The Teskey Brothers, Tones and I, and The Veronicas.
“I would strongly encourage Central Coast music venue owners and managers to apply to host and make the most of this exciting opportunity.
“Our community has been confronted with the triple whammy of bushfires, floods and COVID-19 this year, and if any local music venues are selected to host Great Southern Nights gigs, this would be a fantastic morale-booster.
“Any venue that has previously hosted a gig and can deliver a COVID-safe event will be considered.”
Venues must be able to demonstrate they have previously hosted gigs and put forward their suggested talent when applying to be in the program. Venues can submit a maximum of four gigs for consideration, and successful applicants will receive financial support to contract talent and deliver their event.
Timeline for the process of review and selection of venues;
- 3 August – Applications Live
- 14 August – Applications Close (5 pm)
- 25 August – Venues notified of inclusion
What could be better than that? Some of Australia’s best artists, playing here on the Coast! So don’t let this golden opportunity slip away, get applying now!
