Chronicle Counsel: Gosford RSL update

Gosford RSL upgrade

Over the past couple of years, Gosford RSL has been progressing steadily toward the construction of their new club. As we’re all aware the COVID-19 crisis of 2020 has been a monumental challenge for everyone.

Throughout the crisis, Gosford RSL Club has worked hard to support their members, their staff and the community. Like everyone,  Gosford RSL hoped and expected that the COVID-19 crisis would be resolved by now, or at least that there would be a clear, reliable timeline for our society to return to ‘normal’. Unfortunately, there is still no clear timeline and there is no clear definition of what the ‘new normal’ will be.

Because of this uncertainty, the Gosford RSL Club Ltd Board of Directors and CEO have made the decision to postpone the start of construction of their new building for 12 months.

Whilst this decision will be disappointing for many who were looking forward to seeing the new building started, the Club’s governing body is acutely aware of its responsibilities in managing the members’ assets and does not feel it is appropriate to commence such a significant project whilst there is still so much uncertainty.

Gosford RSL are very pleased to report that: – all statutory and planning approvals are in place – all architectural and planning documentation is complete – the building tender package is ready for market.

Therefore, it is a simple process to “press pause” on the current project timeline, then pick back up exactly where they left off, in 12 months’ time.

The expected commencement of construction is now January 2022 with completion expected mid-2023. The current Club will continue to trade in its current format right through to the opening of the new premises.

Gosford RSL would like to express their thanks to all Club staff, Project Managers (APP), Architects (WMK) and the entire project team for bringing the project this far. The RSL remains committed to this project; however, they believe it is prudent to establish greater clarity before committing members’ resources.

The team at Gosford RSL would like to thank their members for their support and assure everyone that they remain committed to providing the best hospitality experience for their members and guests and supporting the community through the good times and challenges.

Gosford RSL Club is open every day, offering a COVID-Safe environment in all areas, as well as Take-Away, Home-Delivery, the Drive-Through BBQ & Coffee in the front car park, their “Online&In-Club” raffles and entertainment on Friday night and Sunday afternoon and so much more.
