Join the Munmorah Community Consultation Group: Have Your Say in the Future of Our Community

Generator Property Management (GPM) is excited to announce the formation of the Munmorah Community Consultation Group (Munmorah CCG). This new initiative is designed to keep our community informed and involved in the remediation process of the former Munmorah Power Station site.

What’s the story?

The Munmorah Power Station site has been declared “significantly contaminated” by the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) due to historical industrial activities. Recognising the importance of addressing these environmental concerns, GPM, a NSW Government-owned company, is taking proactive steps to clean up the site. We welcome the EPA’s decision and are dedicated to ensuring the remediation process meets the highest environmental and community standards.

To achieve this, we are inviting members of the community to apply to join the Munmorah CCG. This group will play a vital role in overseeing the cleanup efforts and providing valuable input.

What does the CCG do?

As a member of the Munmorah CCG, you will:

  • Attend Quarterly Meetings: Participate in meetings held at the site or a nearby location to discuss the progress of the remediation efforts.
  • Inspect Ongoing Cleanup Works: Get firsthand insights by inspecting the cleanup activities and understanding the measures being taken to address the contamination.
  • Receive Regular Updates: Stay informed with regular updates on investigations and the status of the remediation project.
  • Contribute to the Long-Term Plan: Share your ideas and feedback to help shape the long-term remediation plan for the site.

Why is this important?

The remediation of the former Munmorah Power Station site is a critical project that affects the health and environment of the Central Coast community. By joining the Munmorah CCG, you have the opportunity to ensure that the cleanup process is thorough and effective, ultimately leading to a safer and more sustainable environment for everyone.

Your involvement will give you a voice in shaping the future of our community and ensuring that the remediation efforts reflect the needs and concerns of local residents. This is a unique chance to be part of a project that has significant long-term benefits for our region.

How to get involved

We encourage all interested community members to apply for a position in the Munmorah CCG. Your participation is crucial to the success of this project, and we look forward to working together to create a healthier future for the Central Coast.
