NOTE: All candidates are welcome to submit their news to enable our Central Coast community the best opportunity to be informed before the election on SEPTEMBER 14
Julian Richards is standing as an independent candidate for the Gosford West Ward in the upcoming Central Coast Council election on September 14, 2024. Residing in Kariong for the past ten years with his wife and two sons, Julian is deeply rooted in the community. He identifies as a Christian and brings 22 years of professional experience as a qualified risk management expert, having worked across both public and private sectors in various roles. Julian retired in 2019 and previously served as a volunteer with the NSW State Emergency Service before relocating to the Central Coast.
His campaign emphasizes genuine community engagement and independent decision-making. Julian has stated, “I have their interests at heart; I live in their ward and care about their area! I am beholden to no group or political party.” He stresses the importance of ongoing dialogue with residents, aiming to maintain close connections rather than disappearing after being elected. His key priorities include sound financial management for the Council and enhancing essential services like road maintenance, footpaths, parks, and sporting facilities.
Julian’s policy platform includes preserving weekly RED BIN waste services, focusing on maintaining existing infrastructure, resisting further privatization of public assets, and reviewing the potential benefits of de-amalgamating the Council. He also advocates for protecting public spaces from unreasonable restrictions, expanding the Central Coast open space reserve system, and bolstering Council’s law enforcement capabilities.
Julian Richards represents a pragmatic, community-centered approach for Gosford West Ward. For more details on his campaign, policies, and positions, visit his Facebook page.
