As we all know social gatherings are restricted and it remains that ANZAC Day should be commemorated. But how?
Central Coast Chronicle business member Gosford RSL is supporting the #lightupthedawn driveway initiative.
The initiative suggests that our community stand in their driveways at 6.00am on ANZAC Day, to line the streets and share a minutes silence. You may want to hold a candle, or simply walk out your front door to your balcony (if you share a driveway) and remember those who fought for our freedom.
For family members who aren’t as mobile, the ABC will be broadcasting a 5.30am service from the Australian War Memorial in Canberra. There will also be a 10am service from the Anzac Memorial in Sydney that will be broadcast on ABC and streamed live.
If you’re wanting to play the Ode and last post there is now a button on the FREE Gosford RSL App.
Gosford RSL is recommending that you press play on the Ode and last post immediately after the one minute silence. You can access the audio and video file by simply downloading the app. Once downloaded, you go from the home screen, then press”Anzac Day” and then press “Play The Ode” button. Make sure your volume is on and up!
The App can be downloaded for Apple devices here or From the Android store here

We Will Remember Them
Lest We Forget
If you’d like to make some ANZAC biscuits, we recommend this recipe from Central Coast local Julie Goodwin.
For activities later in the day, we’re being encouraged to use the hashtag #ANZACSpirit and share how you’ll be commemorating privately, as well as who you’ll be remembering this ANZAC Day.
Finally, we’re being encouraged to reach out to mates, young and young at heart. This is your opportunity to embody the ANZAC value of mateship and check to see how a mate is doing.
